I have never seen a forum that made unsubscribing so difficult. Usually there is just a button at the bottom of each email, and clicking it unsubscribes a person.

Here I get told to go to "my profile," but when I do, and I search on the word "unsubscribe," I get nothing.

Go to your profile and open up the e-mail preferences section, then uncheck all the options you don't want.

Despite the sudden flush of people asking for no more emails, it really is as simple as Burra has explained.

When you open your person profile click next to the words email preferences and it opens the relevant options. Make sure a check mark is only next to the emails you want to receive.

If you want to receive no emails at all, the option is at the bottom of this section with the monthly email to close your account. paul has determined that the minimum investment of time that indicates an interest in being part of this online community is handling one email per month, but he isn't forcing this on anyone.

To anyone who is reading this who wants to participate in these conversations, don't be afraid of permies spamming your email box. As a community we value diverse discussion too much to want to drive you off like that.

As burra and casie pointed out, you just check and uncheck boxes and save.  There is a link to that with every email.   If there is any email that we send out that does not have that, please let us know.

We are in the midst of overhauling a lot of our email stuff.  One of the things we are exploring is "one click unsubscribe" - it is on the "todo" list, but I'm not sure how soon we will get to it.  It seems that nearly all forums do not offer this.   After all, this is not a mailing list, this is a forum.

In fact, right now, I think our email configuration stuff is richer than facebook.

I think we have a lot of people that have come and made suggestions for improvement and a lot of times we make those changes - or put them on our "todo" list.  And, once in a while, we have people express their ignorance through hostility.

Thanks for making this image for us Olof!

Hello Paul
I am new to this site.  How do I post a photo and ad on the permies single as I so desire to do?

Hi Leigh, I think I can help.  Just go to the Permaculture Singles sub forum and start a "New Topic".  Give it a good title and write up something about you and what you're after.  Then just below the text box there are tabs.  The highlighted one is "Options" where if you like smileys you want to click on the box to stop disabling them .  Then click on the "Attachments" tab.  Hit "Browse" and find your picture on your computer.

When you're done, hit "Preview" just below the tabs to see what the text looks like.  FYI, the pictures don't show up in the preview, you only will see them when you cross your fingers and hit Submit.

If you submit and the picture isn't the way you wanted it, you can then open your thread and click on "Edit" on the right to make adjustments.

Good luck!

I suggest that you start a new thread about that here in the tinkering forum.
